Stellenbosch Municipality: Internship Programme 2025/2026

Stellenbosch Municipality invites unemployed South African graduates to apply for a 24-month Financial Management Internship Programme.


Position Details:

  • Position: Financial Management Intern
  • Stipend: R9,000 per month
  • Duration: 2-Year Contract
  • Department: Financial Services
  • Closing Date: February 17, 2025

Minimum Requirements:

National Diploma or 3-year B-Degree in:

  • Accounting
  • Finance
  • Internal Audit
  • Economics
  • Local Government Finance
    Completion of minimum competency unit standards within 18 months of appointment
    Computer literacy (MS Office applications)

Other Requirements:

Strong interpersonal skills
Proficiency in at least two of the three official languages of the Western Cape (Afrikaans, English, Xhosa)
Willingness to learn and grow professionally


Key Responsibilities:

Work within the Financial Services Department as part of the learning process
Participate in all learning and work experience components
Comply with municipal workplace policies and procedures
Maintain daily logs and complete assessment tools as required
Attend all study sessions (including evenings/Saturdays) and maintain a professional portfolio of evidence


Preference Will Be Given To:

Applicants aged 18 – 35 years
Candidates residing within the Stellenbosch Municipal Area (proof of address required)
