Purpose of the Role

This role ensures accurate and timely processing of accounting transactions for inclusion in GRAP-compliant financial statements. Responsibilities include reconciliations, accounts payable and receivable processing, debt management, revenue, GRV, asset management, external reporting, audit support, and compliance with the PFMA.

Additionally, the position involves assessing policies, procedures, and controls for GRAP compliance and overseeing their implementation.

Key Responsibilities

1. Draft and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for accounting functions.
2. Review and address weaknesses in internal controls to ensure compliance with policies and statutory regulations.
3. Perform general finance and audit administration tasks.
4. Prepare year-end financial statements, lead schedules, and reconciliations.
5. Address prior-period errors through retrospective application of corrections.

Qualifications and Experience

• Required Qualification:
  • Minimum: 3-year National Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting (NQF 6/7).
  • Advantage: Postgraduate qualification (NQF 8/CTA).
• Experience:
  • Completion of 3-year SAICA articles.
  • Experience in GRAP or IFRS.
  • Post-articles experience is advantageous.
